The app collects nothing. The website asks you for no data.
1. The Unclock app
Unclock ("the app") silences notifications from work apps you choose, when you are not working: you set your work days and hours, everything else is a break, and you can add other breaks (lunch, a day off), so your life beyond work stays yours.
Data we collect
None. The app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no network access. Nothing is sent to the developer or to any third party.
What the app accesses on your device
- Notification access. To dismiss notifications, Android lets the app see each notification as it arrives. The app only looks at which app posted it and, if that app is on your list during a break, dismisses it. It does not read, copy or store the title, text or any content of your notifications.
- List of installed apps. Used only to show you the apps you can choose from. It stays on your device.
What is stored, and where
Only on your device: your settings (on/off, work days and hours, breaks, sleep hours, chosen apps), your free-time history (for each day, how many minutes had no work notifications and at which times) and, for the report after a break, a count of held notifications with the name of the app that sent each. No message content is stored. If you use Android backup, settings and history may be backed up by your Google account as any app data.
Your control
You can revoke notification access at any time in Android settings, and uninstalling the app deletes its data.
2. The test
- Controller: Pasquale Ercolino, developer of Unclock. Contact: pasquale.ercolino98@gmail.com.
- On the website: there is no form, and I ask you for no data to join the test.
- Data: you join the testers' group on Google Groups and the test on Google Play with your Google account. As the manager of the group and the test, I see that account's email address.
- Purpose: only to run the test. I don't send you emails: news goes on the Telegram channel. I don't use your address for newsletters or ads and I don't share it with anyone.
- Legal basis: your request to take part in the test (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).
- Where it is kept: on Google Groups and Google Play: Google's rules apply there. The same goes for Telegram, if you join the channel.
- How long: you can leave the group anytime. Within 30 days of Unclock's launch on Google Play I close the testers' group.
- Your rights: you can ask me to see or delete your data, or to remove you from the group, by writing to the address above. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
3. This website
- The website uses no tracking cookies, analytics or ads, so there is no cookie banner.
- The site is hosted by Netlify (servers in the USA), which, like any server, logs technical data such as IP address and browser for security, for a limited time. I don't use it.
- The typeface is served from this site, not from Google Fonts.
